"I thoroughly enjoyed this course in Child Centered Play Therapy. It was hugely beneficial to connect with the child within, during the reflective exercises and therefore closely learn about the techniques and endless (infinite) benefits of this empowering model of therapy from a child’s perspective. Thank you."
Dr William Nordling, a leading USA and international Play Therapy trainer shares about his experience of the Play Therapy Australia Training Program.
"I recently completed Play Therapy training with Play Therapy Australia and found it to be of an excellent standard. The information was clear, the practical activities were well balanced with theoretical knowledge, the facilitators engaging and highly skilled in play therapy practices. Overall, I would rate this program very highly and recommend it to other therapists keen to develop skills in Child Centred Play Therapy.”

"I have worked for many years with children and
adolescents, but doing the Play Therapy Training Program has been an amazing experience, both professionally and personally. It has also significantly changed the way that I work, making my practice more effective, and more satisfying. I am very grateful for the knowledge shared and the professional support from both Play Therapy Australia and the wider play therapy community."
Angela North - Psychologist
"I greatly enjoyed completing the Certificate of Play Therapy through Play Therapy Australia in 2012. Jewel is a knowledgeable and skilful trainer, and presents an in depth and multifaceted approach to learning about Child Centered Play Therapy, considering different theoretical models and aspects of practice. Jewel's skill and passion, the wisdom and experience of world leaders in the Play Therapy field who contributed to workshops and training material, and the opportunity to develop and practice skills in a supportive environment with others who were interested in Play Therapy as well, was a greatly enriching and beneficial process, professionally and personally."
Shivonne Cammell - Social Worker
"In offering a testimonial that speaks to my experience of Play Therapy Australia, I am delighted to say that I feel truly privileged to have been a participant in the 2013 Child Centred Play Therapy Training. As this way of working is prefaced ‘on a way of being’ within the therapeutic relationship, much of the content of the training focuses on the importance of empathic engagement, acceptance and non-judgment as necessary features of all forms of Child Centred Play Therapy. However, from my perspective the real gift of this Training Program centred on the training process itself and the recognition that its facilitators demonstrated these qualities when presenting their material throughout the many months of training. Although the tenets of Child Centred Play Therapy were highlighted as key aspects of course content, in my view the ability of both trainers to support the learning process of trainees compassionately and without judgment informed the success of this program more than any other factor.
Specifically, I believe their containment, warmth and nurturance underpinned many of the training’s experiential exercises, enabling these opportunities to be experienced as moments of insight. Furthermore, their willingness to share their vulnerabilities in the context of therapeutic praxis whilst honoring participant responses in challenging circumstances, also made the Training Program a safe and supportive learning environment.
Whilst there are many more statements I could make attesting to the quality of this Training Program, perhaps my most persuasive comment turns on my belief that the experience has enhanced my personhood. In summary, I consider that the qualities of empathic engagement, genuineness and authenticity, central to child centred play therapy and embodied in its trainers, have added substantively to my lived experience.
In short, the training has led me to much deeper reflection on my “way of being” in the world that transcends psycho-therapeutic practice. In my view it is this growth, more than the actual content of the course and how I apply it in my professional life, that encompasses my real learning. I am extremely grateful to Jewel Janan and Naomi Button for this opportunity.
