Play Therapy Sessions for Children

Individual Play Therapy Sessions

For children 2 - 10 years old  experiencing psychosocial, emotional, behavioural &/or developmental difficulties assessed as being suitable for Child Centered Play Therapy sessions. Child Centered Play Therapy sessions can also be very helpful for trauma debriefing and are sometimes offered on an intensive basis.

Play Therapy sessions are generally held in a special Play Room but in special circumstances  can be offered for children in other settings, such as in hospitals.  In working with a child in Play Therapy, parents / carers are an important part of the process and there is contact with the parents/carers by phone and in scheduled  meetings.

Group Play Therapy

Some Child Centered Play Therapists offer small group Play Therapy sessions for 2-3 children and for sibling groups.  There is a careful assessment process required to ensure that children are suitable for Group Play Therapy sessions.  Group Play Therapy can be helpful for social skills development, self esteem, self expression and to assist with psychosocial and adjustment difficulties.

Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT)

Individual or Group sessions teaching   parents/carers how to have special play sessions based on the Child Centered Play Therapy model with the child.  To support the emotional, psychosocial and developmental growth of the child and to help strengthen & nurture the parent / child relationship.
